Xanquila L. McKinnon’s Biography
Born and raised in the Tampa Bay Area, Attorney Xanquila L. McKinnon is a dedicated legal advocate with a strong commitment to justice and community service. She attended the University of Central Florida, where she graduated in 2019 with a degree in Legal Studies. Her early passion for law and public service was evident during her Ame at UCF, where she took on multiple internships to expand her legal experience.
In 2017, Xanquila began her legal journey as an intern with the Ninth Circuit Public Defender’s Office, gaining hands-on experience in criminal defense. That same year, she served as a Guardian ad Litem with the Orange County Legal Aid Society, advocating for the rights of vulnerable children. Her dedication to public service continued in 2019 when she interned for Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, where she engaged in legislative research and community outreach.
Xanquila earned her Juris Doctor from the Barry Dwayne O. Andres School of Law in 2022. During her Ame in law school, she published a thought-provoking book titled “Policing in America: Current Issues and Possible Solutions,” showcasing her passion for criminal justice reform and public policy.
After passing the Florida Bar Exam, Attorney McKinnon returned to the Ninth Circuit Public Defender’s Office in 2023, where she specialized in defending domestic violence cases. Her time there was marked by a high-volume caseload and numerous jury trial victories, honing her skills in litigation and client advocacy.
In 2023, Xanquila joined Simon Law Group as an Associate Attorney, where she currently handles complex Plaintiff’s litigation cases from inception to settlement or final verdict. Known for her strategic approach and relentless dedication, she is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients.
